Driven by Maddie’s deep-rooted love for big band music, she is proud to present her very own contribution — a dynamic and collaborative project co-founded with composer, arranger, and trumpeter Gabriel Taylor. The two first crossed paths while studying at the Royal Academy of Music, quickly bonding over their mutual admiration for artists such as Quincy Jones, Nancy Wilson, Thad Jones, Barbra Streisand and James Brown. This shared passion has inspired a rich and varied repertoire, brought to life through Gabriel’s vibrant arrangements, predominantly of popular Black American Music from the latter half of the 20th century and selections from the Great American Songbook.

 

The Maddie Martin Big Band offers a flexible lineup, ranging from a full 18-piece ensemble to a 15-piece and an 11-piece, allowing them to tailor their sound to any venue. They take pride in their quality, versatility and ability to deliver something special for every audience. The band made its debut in June 2024 at London’s Waldorf Hotel, performing as the full 18-piece big band featuring alumni and current students from the UK’s leading conservatories, including the Royal Academy of Music, Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and Trinity Laban.
