Maddie met pianist Columbus Sandor, bassist Guy Dempsey, and drummer Kai Macrae while studying at the Royal Academy of Music, the quartet graduated together in July 2025. With Guy’s 'unwavering crotchet beat' (UK Jazz News), Kai’s distinctive drumming sound, and Columbus’s expressive melodic lines, Maddie’s group delivers playful, original, and soulful sets, blending beloved jazz standards, songs from the Great American Songbook, and touches of soul.

 

The group have worked with and been mentored by acclaimed British jazz vocalist Claire Martin OBE and multi-award-winning producer James McMillan. They recorded demos at Quiet Money Studios in January 2025 and returned in September to record Maddie’s debut EP. Another standout moment of the year was the quartet’s jazz festival debut at the Swanage Jazz Festival 2025.
