Vocalist Maddie Martin met pianist Columbus Sandor, bassist Guy Dempsey and drummer Kai MacRae while studying at The Royal Academy of Music, graduating together in July 2025. Since graduating, the group have built a growing reputation, performing at some of the UK's most respected jazz venues and festivals, including Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club, The 606 Club, The Verdict Jazz Club, Swanage Jazz Festival and The Blue Room (Lincoln Jazzpac).
Maddie and the band have worked closely with acclaimed British jazz vocalist Claire Martin OBE and five-time Grammy nominated producer and musician James McMillan. In January 2025, they joined Martin and McMillan at Quiet Money Studios to record Maddie’s first demo tracks. This collaboration led to a return to the studio in September 2025 to record her debut album, Part One. Maddie looks forward to recording the second half of the album during summer 2026, and later release Part One in 2027. The first single from the record, Dream Boy, is available now on all streaming platforms.
Their time performing and developing together shaped a quartet that blends Maddie’s dynamic voice - rooted in tradition yet shaped by a fresh, contemporary perspective - with Guy’s “unwavering crotchet beat” (UK Jazz News), Kai’s distinctive drumming sound, and Columbus’s expressive, lyrical playing. Together, they create playful, soulful and original performances, blending jazz standards, selections from the Great American Songbook, and influences of soul.
